Betty Ford, before First Lady and the choice advocate, passes in 93

published: 2011-07-08 22:05:59 Throughout history, First Ladies of the United States have been a whole lot more popular than their husbands. One could debate a lot of different theories as to why that’s so, but the most commonly held viewpoint stems from a narrow scope. A President has to weigh in on the prevalent issues of the day, regardless of how polarizing they may be, whereas a First Lady typically champions one, good-natured social issue throughout her husband’s term. Laura Bush fought for literacy, Nancy Reagan for keeping children off drugs and Lady Bird Johnson for decreasing highway billboards. Of course…

They come from all different experiences and cooking backgrounds. King owns two restaurants, Michelle is a private chef, and Joel is a high school teacher.   For their signature dishes, Joel makes a seared duck breast, Michelle goes with crawfish, and King prepares noodles and scallops… or, just noodles. He runs out of time and doesn’t even get to put his scallops on the plate.   Rocco was not too thrilled with the…

published: 2011-05-14 12:36:29 Twelve days ago, Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon welcomed twins into the world. Amidst the celebration, some jackass called Child Protective Services on the couple with allegations of drinking and drug use going on in the hospital room. Cannon went on with CNN’s Piers Morgan to clear up the confusion, chalking it up to someone overhearing a nurse suggest that Mariah drink Guiness beer because the yeast improves breast feeding. What really surprises me is that CPS showed up to a hospital, one of the most controlled places in the world, to make sure a couple of typically well…

by Mike Bandy   Last night’s drama-fest began with Ramona getting ready for a photo shoot for her skin care line. Look, I think Ramona is great TV, but WHY does this woman insist on modeling? Even with Sonja’s “helpful” tips, her shots mostly looked like she was somewhere between coitus and constipation. I just can’t.   Next, it was off to Cindy’s and Jill came over to see her apartment, which she loved. Cindy spoke about her dinner with Ramona at The Four Seasons, and how disappointed she was at her extreme behavior. Well, look, we’ve got…

by David McAlpine As reality stars from across the country geared up for last weekend’s Reality Rally race around Temecula, several took a chance to reflect on the real meaning of the weekend: breast cancer education and awareness. I got the chance to talk one-on-one with several of the Rally’s participants about their reasons for participating in the event and their connection to the…

by David McAlpine Last weekend, more than 100 reality stars from more than 30 different shows came together in Temecula, the heart of Southern California’s wine country, for a good cause and some friendly competition. The first annual Reality Rally , organized by Survivor: Gabon’s Gillian Larson , brought reality stars from all over the country to raise money and awareness for Michelle’s Place, a resource center aimed at raising awareness for and helping patients who have been diagnosed with breast cancer. But with the serious came the fun, too. Among the events that highlighted Temecula and the surrounding area, the main…

by Mike Bandy   In the van on the way back from panel on ANTM , the girls were congratulating Brittani for getting top photo, and she was really excited about it. She also thought that Alexandria should have gone home, and said that words cannot express how much she doesn’t like her.   Meanwhile, Mikaela didn’t expect to be in the bottom two, because she’s been modeling since she was 15, and has more experience than the other girls. Ah, tragic foreshadowing…   The girls arrive home to find gift bags with symbols on them for Warriors in Pink by…
